Kathmandu National Medical College (KNMC) | - Kathmandu National Medical College
The college is spearheaded by Basruddin Ansari, a seasoned healthcare entrepreneur with 25 years of experience running the National Medical College and recent involvement with Nepal Medical College.
Quality, Affordable, and Specialized Services
According to Ansari, the college will offer super-specialized services in medical surgery, gynecology, neurology, thyroid care, and more.
High-end medical technologies such as MRI and CT-scan facilities are being installed and are expected to be fully operational within three months.
Currently, the hospital has already prepared:
- 15-bed ICU
- 15-bed HDU
- 15-bed Neonatal ICU
- 16-bed Emergency Ward
Although the hospital structure supports 174 beds, the initial operation will start with approval for 100 beds.
Mission to Curb Medical Migration
Ansari expressed concern over the increasing trend of Nepali students and patients seeking medical education and treatment abroad.
He emphasized that Kathmandu National Medical College aims to provide high-quality and accessible services locally, reducing the need for foreign travel.
“Our charges will be only up to 10% higher than government hospitals, and up to 50% lower than private hospitals,” he stated, promising no compromise on quality.
Service-Driven Approach
Ansari reiterated that the college is not profit-oriented. “We are here to serve, not to earn,” he said. “With 25 years of experience, we will offer advanced and patient-centered care while maintaining quality at every level.”
He also assured that all doctors and nurses at the institution are skilled and experienced, and encouraged the public to try their services and compare.
Aiming to Build Trust & Reputation
“Our goal is not just to provide treatment,” Ansari added, “but to build trust and reputation in the healthcare sector.” He emphasized that the college offers a balance of affordability, quality service, and reliable infrastructure.
With its strategic location in the heart of Kathmandu, the new medical college is expected to set new benchmarks in patient care, making quality healthcare more accessible for all.
