I want my country back

July 30, 2010  |  Jyoti Khanal
Sixty-three years back after the fall of Rana dynasty on 1953 country was again in to the Saha Royals with the hope of new peace and prosperous country to be. King Tribhuvan gave democracy to the Nepalese people. People were curious of what next? Congress become the first party to lead Nepal with the parliamentary system for the first time in the history of Nepal.

But still the system was e-matured just like a tulip and due to why again the complete power went back to the Royals dissolving the parliamentary system. This time it was in the clever hand of His majesty Mahindra and he gave the country the unique and only system called PANCHAYAAT. Although later this system was in criticism for its in-justice to the people but whatever! This became the only known successful system in the history of Nepal.

Country for the first time had been recognized in the list of world countries and become a active diplomatic country in south Asia region due to King Mahindra's diplomacy. He becomes so famous to his people because he had opened a new opportunity and possibilities for the people of Nepal. Development went on so smooth that in the short period of his regime Nepalese were able to connect themselves with the road transportation and air transportation. Hydro power were on development, schools were opened in each districts with colleges in each zone Factories were established in collaboration with foreign industries which has brought employment in the country , More reform and research were done in agriculture sector. It was believed that at least a Nepalese family gets his two time mouth full of food. None Nepalese had died for food. People still say "No other king developed the country as King Mahindra did".

Unfortunately King Mahindra died so early and the country now went to the hands of his elder son King Birendra. He was also on the shoes of his father. He was loved by his citizen but he was not as clever as his father. He was so calm and decent even most people take him as an avatar of Lord Vishnu due to his loyalty to the country and its people. He was people's king and become more famous than his father. He was known for his simplicity, softness, practicability and leisurely due to his this characteristics ministers and people in the post misused and the system termite with corruption. This brought difference in people in power and ordinary people, farmers were looted by the land lords and richer become richer and poorer become poorer and country now have entered into 3 level of leaving class; before this level of class was just two class Upper class and Lower class now came the Middle class in between Upper class and lower. People in middle class were the people with vision but no power and money they could neither fit in upper class nor fit with the lower class .These were the people who suffered the most so politics become only weapon for them to use against the government who now already had been over taken by the corrupt politics.

This difference and un-justification in level of class gave birth to the rebellion and their wings had already grown up so fast that they were already flying all over the country. These were the group of less intelligent people with bigger dreams and with them they brought the worst and most dangerous Philosophy which was not practical in this modern era. Initially they become Robin Hood and later become the worst group killing political personnel's, teachers, social workers', women's and children's. Within this period of time a royal massacre happened and Nepal lost its beloved king and queen along with their 22 member of royalty .This become the worst nightmare and most shocking massacre in the history of Nepal.

Maoist brought war in their own homes although the war last for 10 years killing 10,000 Nepalese and with 15,000 yet missing but the fire is still burning in each individual Nepalese heart and shall remain for many years to come. The SAHA dynasty collapsed with such a misery. People were not able to choose what's right and what's wrong and in mean while these rebellion were brought to political mainstream with the support of two bigger existing political party. The people finally forced the king to relinquish state control on April 24, 2006. The success of the People's Movement II left king Gyanendra powerless. The people finally forced the king to relinquish state control on April 24, 2006. The political parties came up together and were now committed in writing a Democratic Constitution through a Constituent Assembly elected by the people. The Maoists have become a part of the Parliament. The responsibilities vested in the King have now been transferred to the Prime Minister. The political parties with commitment to write a Democratic Constitution through a Constituent Assembly elected Prachanda a Maoist president to be the prime minister of Nepal. The Maoists have become a part of the Parliament now. The responsibilities vested in the King have now been transferred to the Prime Minister. But this was just a beginning of next drama of power game.

This was not the only election happened In Nepal, elections come hand in hand with claims of vote-rigging. Here there is an election and a transfer of power, there will inevitably be rumors of conspiracy, of stolen ballot boxes and hijacked polling stations. Whether and to what degree these rumors are true is almost less important than the assumption that a sitting government cannot hold a fair election. Therefore, this constitution election was amended to include a peculiar and rather clever system of handing power to a caretaker government that is responsible for holding a fair election. Now the country is with no constitution for 2 years already constitution was suppose to be written but still political parties are fighting for the chair. This greed has sent the country into the worst economic level. Nothing good is happening and now only hope is also dead.

People now don't care what political parties cook. After all whatever they cook that is not going to remove the hunger of their stomach.

Whenever I imagine returning to Nepal for good, I wonder what kind of country I want to return to. I want, more than anything, to have that feeling of protean possibility that my father must have on me the motherhood that my mother have for me and the same brotherhood that I have for my brother. I want a country where my gender does not preclude me from being an equal citizen. Where corruption has not touched every facet of public life. Where the children don't sell popcorn on street corners or work in factories. I want to know that I'm going to show up on polling day and see my name on the voter registration list. I want to stand in a queue, press my thumb into a pad of ink, and put my mark wherever I like. I want my politicians to stop courting "MURDABAAD". I want the water table to stop rising. I want the government to stop driving the Terai people from the Mountain and Mountain people from the Tarai. I want someone to count my vote. I want a halt to the steady erosion of civil liberties. I want a country where the army cannot rape a women and law can act on them if they did. I want our political parties to be democratic, transparent and accountable. I want fair and neutral judges. I want the right to live as NEPLEASE. I want country with opportunity and hope after all I just want PEACE I just want my country back.

Quest Software’s Unicode (UTF-8)

Please make note of the following caveats Toad for Oracle supports any single-byte character set. Enabling UTF-8 does not automatically cause issues with Toad. The use of double-byte or multi-byte character does not automatically result in issues with Toad, provided that the Oracle database Client/Server configuration settings are in synch. For instance, Toad for Oracle is used extensively in Korea and it works well. Issues can arise with certain combinations of the Oracle client NLS settings and Windows regional settings. However, they seem to occur only when inserting or updating data (there are some scenarios in which data retrieval can cause issues). This makes it crucial for the database, client and OS to be in synch with any internationalization settings. In addition, when using UTF-8 data in the editor or a grid, a font that supports the desired characters must be selected as the default font. Mono-space fonts (also known as fixed-width or non-proportional) will not support...
