Supreme Court order to Vice President Parmananda Jha

KATHAMANDU:The Supreme Court has issued order to Vice President Parmananda Jha to take oath of office and secrecy for the second time in national language (NEPALI).

In a verdict issued on Friday, the apex court concluded that taking oath in Hindi language is not constitutional as per prevailing laws of the country.

The order was issued by a division bench of Chief Justice Min Bahadur Rayamajhi and justice Bal Ram KC in response to a case filed by advocate Balkrishna Neupane a year ago.

Jha’s act of taking oath in Hindi, saying it is the most widely used language in Terai districts, had received widespread criticism and protests last year
